Hello, Am new to magic mum, saw that there are a lot of enthusiastic crafters on this site so decided to join in! Have started sewing over the last year or so, home decor stuff, bunting, christmas decorations, cushions things like that. I currently have a very basic machine, lidl singer one. It does give me some bother intermittently, and now I am at the stage that it won't do what I want from a machine. I really want to start freemotion sewing, I bought the foot for my singer but it really isn't suitable, ended up giving up on it. So I have decided on a new machine. In the long run I want to try some quilting too, along with freemotion and embroidery. I spoke to the guy in Waterford over the phone, explained what I want to use the machine for. I am relatively new to sewing, with very little skill, but plenty of enthusiasm! He suggested either the pfaff ambition essential €649 or the elna 520 (I think) ~€449. Have tried to look up reviews of same, and they seem to be quite mixed for that particular pfaff machine. Anyone out there have it, or would they recommend any other particular machine. The max I would spend would be ~ €649, and I don't want to outgrow the machine any time soon iykwim! Any advise would be greatly appreciated... Please help I didn't find the right solution from the internet. References: Online Video Service Thank you

Hello, I'm very new to Marvelous Designer so apologies for not really knowing any technical terms yet...I need to create garments by importing FBX figures that have been previously animated by someone else. When I add sewn seams instead of the stitching lines coming up on the 3d screen as thin lines it is coming up as almost a solid block. Then when I simulate the garment it takes a long time to stitch, then once it does the garment shrinks up and/or goes 'spikey' before crashing Marvelous Designer. I have tried opening a standard Avatar from the program and have no problems with the stitching when I do this, so I'm guessing it means there's a problem somewhere with the animated figure I'm importing. Being very new to MD I have no idea what this issue could be and I'm struggling to find anything online that can help me. If anyone knows what could be causing this to happen any advice would be greatly appreciated. Please help I didn't find the right solution from the internet. I have a New Home sewing machine that's over 35 years old. It's served me well and I still work it hard mainly making bags out of recycled denim as well as new fabrics and covered notebooks etc! I used to do a lot of dressmaking many years ago but I found it so hard fitting myself that I stopped. Now I have two young granddaughters I aim to take this up again - so much fun with the wonderful fabrics from Daisybuds on offer! A part of me would like a new machine but I'm so attached to my old one I'm finding it hard to put it into retirement! I also have an overlocker but don't use this to it's full potential - not enough time to learn! Some years ago I had an old treadle machine which I gave away - I really regret this now as I'm sure it would handle the layers of denim much easier that my current machine!
